Mayor Gavin Newsom Proclaims April 11, 2008, Point Break Live! Day Proclamation to be issued in honor of the stage production's two-month San Francisco run
April 9, 2008 - San Francisco, CA: Mayor Gavin Newsom has proclaimed April 11, 2008, Point Break LIVE! Day, in honor of the start of the stage production's two-month San Francisco run. Patti Carlise, Entertainment Arts Liaison to Mayor Newsom, will present the proclamation to Point Break LIVE!'s creators Jamie Keeling and Jamie Hook, executive producer Ethan Garber, producer Eve Hars, and associate producers/directors Thomas Blake and George Spielvogel, "for their efforts in creating another successful entertainment institution in San Francisco." The proclamation will be issued before the start of Point Break LIVE's debut performance, 9:00 p.m, Friday, April 11, 2008, at Xenodrome.
According to Eve Hars, Producer, "After performing in so many wonderful cities since the play's inception five years ago, this is truly the highest honor we've received. We're proud to bring Point Break LIVE! to San Francisco, and if audience reaction to it here is anything like what we continually receive from Los Angeles audiences, we're confident Point Break LIVE! will be here far longer than two-months."
Associate Producer, George Spielvogel adds, "the Proclamation could be the first step towards Point Break LIVE! replacing Rice-a-Roni as the newest San Francisco treat."
Point Break Live! is the smash hit, full-immersion, absurdist stage adaptation of the 1992 Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze extreme-sports blockbuster, that tells the story of former College football star, Johnny Utah, in pursuit of the surfing, bank robbing, skydiving, bare-hand-fighting adrenaline-junkie-cum-Zen-master Bodhi Sattva. Since it's Seattle debut in 2003, "Point Break Live!" has 'performed to sell-out crowds in Minneapolis, and New York City, and it continues strong after six-months in Los Angeles to rave reviews, with all shows sold out two weeks in advance.
The starring role of Johnny Utah, who is selected from the audience each night, reads their entire script off cue cards in order to capture the rawness of a Keanu Reeves performance. "Point Break LIVE!" features armed robbery, big-wave surfing, car chases, explosions, no less than two extended skydiving sequences and an indoor monsoon. The audience doesn\'t just watch Point Break LIVE!; they are in it. "Survival KitsT\", consisting of a plastic emergency poncho to protect the viewers from the action that literally spills forth from the stage, are issued before the start of the show, so it's suggested everyone leave their fineries at home. The stage action, which literally spills into the street, is videoed and played through a real-time live feed on TV monitors set to the side of the stage via the \"Keanu KamT.\"
"Point Break Live!" begins Friday, April 11, 2008, at (note new time) 9 pm and two performances on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 7:30 pm and 10 p.m. at Xenodrome, 1320 Potrero Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94110. Tickets are available at only $25.00 each at www.theatermania.com, or by calling 1-866-811-4111. If not sold out, tickets are also available at the door at $25.00. "Point Break Live!" will continue through June 2008, and possibly beyond, every Friday night at 8 p.m. and two performances on Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. For more info, cast photos, and video, please visit www.pointbreaklive.com
